Whether people believed them or not, eventually they all seemed to accept that this was all they were going to be told and the matter was dropped. Not before they were both grounded for a month, given chores around the school grounds and extra homework as punishment for their crimes!
By now they were the very best of friends and were inseparable.
But they were no longer the quiet kids at the back of the class. They were not jeered or made fun of. They were heroes. They were indeed the very best of friends and if there was to be any sort of adventure then they would be the first to volunteer or be considered — and of course there were bound to be adventures for they still had to find out….
Do Fish Wear Pyjamas?
They never told anybody what the answer to Gonzo’s question was, as it had appeared in The Great Book of Kildare.
Do Fish Wear Pyjamas?
It was a great saying, a silly saying, even a stupid saying, but it was their saying and they decided it would be their way to remember the best day of their lives, the best friends in the universe and their way to keep themselves prepared for future adventures.
And to tell the truth – it still made them
smile!
